Personal Statement:
What is profound, comic, surreal, original and observant? Jas Maddock’s illustration/art work. In snappy A5-A2 sizes, rendered in acrylic, ink, pencil and cosmetics it covers dream images, fairies, comic characters in b/w and surreal juxtapositioning of ‘everyday’ objects. Working to commission or personal brief, my inspiration comes from both my one off mind and seeing things around me in a surreal way. I make full use of Photoshop to scan and reinterpret my work, and exhibit on websites such as www.risingartist.com and www.theartshopper.com, as well as in galleries such as Transformerrooms and the SAA 2000 exhibition, at which I was awarded 1st prize for ‘Manwoman’. Celebrity artist judge Charles Evans ‘A really good example of abstract work’. Agent: Charles Moffatt of www.lilithgallery.com, USA. ‘Your work is exceptional”.

Commissioned Work:
Big Arts Week- Residency. National campaign including celebrity creatives June 15-22 2002 visiting schools for a week to work with pupils on projects. At Greenleas School the children and I created cut out models of the teachers in fabric, imaginative interpretations of the teachers in paintings and surreal collages, plus Photoshop work.
